The Popcorn Institute?

The link is to an article on Politico about language in the Farm Bill that helps the popcorn industry but I tumblring (?) this because the article also references a trade group named “The Popcorn Institute”. How great does this place sound? I wonder if one of the benefits of working there is that you get unlimited popcorn and you get an annual credit to The Popcorn Factory catalog. I would just want to be able to make customizable popcorn tins.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”

UGH I JUST LOVE YOU SO MUH-HUH-HUCHHH
      → President Barack Obama

I’m reblogging just for the first photo. It looks photoshopped but I wish it were real. It’s just too funny.

"If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon."

President Obama, responding to a question about Trayvon Martin and the role of “stand your ground” laws. (via theatlantic)

I think it is interesting that this is the quote that is getting pulled from the President’s remarks on Trayvon Martin and not the quote about how we should come together.

North Carolina-South Carolina State Line Redrawn

Well, at least South of the Border is safe. Imagine going to sleep living in SC and waking up living in NC. This is just a crazy story and I couldn’t imagine having the state I live in change overnight. It makes you think just how many aspects of your life are predicated on the state you live in.

Ha…it’s funny because it is true. As hard as Mitt Romney tries, he just can’t find the love.

To residents of another Washington, their cherished values are under assault

The +Washington Post today has an interesting article on a small town in Oklahoma that wants to hang on to its traditional culture in a changing world. The town of Washington, OK is pretty much what you expect it to be. When the piece moves to Oklahoma City though, it paints the picture of a town that lives in a bubble and Oklahoma City is moving forward. While Oklahoma City may indeed be more progressive, Washington is far from being in a bubble as I am sure the town is more in line with the rest of the state.

One correction, you can drive through Oklahoma City and see the campus of Oklahoma State, not the University of Oklahoma as the article says.
